I am excited to announce that I will be soon adding posture therapy as a method to help my clients help themselves remove pain, especially chronic pain from their bodies through postural exercises.
Postural therapy aims to target the root cause of chronic pain including:
- Back pain (including disc injuries)
- Hip pain (including osteoarthritis)
- Knee pain
- Neck ache
- Repetitive Strain Injuries
- Shoulder pain
- Sports injuries
- Pregnancy pains
- Elbow pain
- Jaw pain
- Wrist & hand pain
- Leg pain
- Ankle & foot pain
I came upon this method after reading Tim Ferriss’ book “Four Hour Body” where he talks about the efficiency of using postural exercises from the Egoscue method to reduce or eliminate pain. I also follow Zuzka Light to workout from my home where I learned more about the Egoscue method from her videos. I tried it myself by working with Ameet Bhakta from London via Skype. I wanted to see how this method could work for me since for six months a year ago I started suffering from tendonitis in the elbow. I was regularly playing the piano and massage season had begun and I was already in pain. After one session with Ameet and dutifully doing the exercises he prescribed for me for a week, I no longer had pain in my elbow that I suffered from during six months.
My long-term goal for myself with the Egoscue method is stop the scoliosis that I have from developing further and particularly to reverse it and to no longer have daily back and neck pain. My back was almost always stiff and so full of tension. It is better with exercise and self-massage but I feel my back has worsen over the years. Now while practicing posture therapy regularly on myself, I feel my back is stronger, there is a lot less tension and I am no longer regularly visiting the physical therapist or chiropractor to fix my back.
My goal for my clients, family and friends, is to see them out of their chronic pain. I have had client after client on my massage table complaining of chronic pain, injuries, and their limitations, I felt frustrated that I couldn’t help them on a more permanent basis. Now as I am finishing up my studies with Egoscue University, I am confident that I can help my clients live a pain-free life.
